Finden March: Choosing the Right Charity
When the first thought of the Finden March popped into my head, I wanted to link it to a charity. So even before I pulled out a map and started planning my routes through Italy and Germany, I wanted to get this sorted. But what charity should I choose?
My first
thoughts were pretty obvious. Why not Help For Heroes? And that stuck
with me for sometime. I mean, it ties in nicely with what I'm doing.
Over the following months I started to notice that Help For Heroes is
everywhere; I would switch the telly on and there would be a piece
about someone doing a cycle or a run for Help For Heroes and also
talking to a lot of my friends, they themselves had done lots of
those things for this charity.
Don't
get me wrong I think Help For Heroes is a fantastic charity, and they
have really made a difference in this world for our troops, but I
didn't want the Finden March to be another “Help For Heroes” fund
raiser...this is when I had a light bulb moment!
The
Royal British Legion are the UK's leading armed forces charity. They
provide practical, emotional and financial support to all members of
the British Armed Forces past and present, and their families.
They
actively campaign to improve their lives and safeguard the Military
Covenant between the nation and it's Armed Forces.
They
also organise the Poppy Appeal, run one of the UK's largest
membership organisations, and are recognised as the nation's
custodian of Remembrance.
Their
mission is to provide welfare,
comradeship,
representation
and
Remembrance
for
the Armed Forces Community.

couldn't think of a better charity to link the Finden March with. I'm

I
have given a goal for two thousand pounds to be raised, but to be
honest even if I only raise £10, its a tenner going to the right
place and I couldn't be more proud.
